Just realized that there's no stagger escaping options on this screen ! It was located in DOA5LR between "escaping throws" and "critical holds".

It could mean nothing but I really hope it's gone for good !
How long has SE been in the games though? Sorry I'm a little ignorant on the mechanics of the previous titles except 2 :p

Wait. So Rig has scars on his face too. Has this always been a thing with him?

I also thought his hole on eyebrow was shaved part not a scar. Derp.

Here you can see it definitely was already a scar in DOA5:

He had other very fine scars too, but the textures of DOA5 just weren't crisp enough to make them out that well.

I think scars can look good on characters, but I think they are overdoing it a little in DOA6. ;) Jann Lee also got scars now and Diego...he looks like he was attacked by a pride of lions. Especially the criss-cross scar on his eybrow is too much imo, it looks artificial and overdesigned. Like a shonen manga/anime character:

Give me a break.
This is DOA and a videogame why we care now about realism, heck even if TN is trying to do that they are failing really hard unless realism only is important when we talk about looks and farservice.

Ask him about that please, but to be honest I really don't know how much can ai trust in you.
I swear, if this is the beginning of another, " DOA is catering to SJWs/ I'm not going to support DOA because they're changing boob sizes/ I don't play DOA for gameplay" rants I've been seeing invade every thread on this site, I'm going to snap.

You can trust me a lot more than anyone can trust you. Im the one with an actual reputation thats built up for nearly two decades. But since youre taking that attitude, offer rescinded. There are other things Id rather bring up.

I don't really know since I'm a newbie, but I definitely hate it in DOA5LR !

Getting rid of slow escape ? No way i hope they won't do that mistake...

Edit: No more SE because of BH...I'm totally against it

Now you people are paranoid.
Yes a love the fanservice and the gameplay, but I mostly love the characters and the story.
Right now I am 50/50 about the game there is a lot of things I am not liking and every interview with Shimbori I am more scared.
It make me sad how little hype there is for the game, heck a new character was reveled yesterday and nobody give a damm, and now two halves of the same fanbase are fighting each other.
I don't necesary think than try to go for the Esport is a bad idea specially when they are improving the gameplay, but I really don't get why less fanservice and smaller boobs are necesary for that.

They indeed downgraded the lighting...:( They played the PC version on the stream and it looked exactly like the Diego trailer and gameplay footage that was officially released.
The upper one is the EVO build, the lower one the E3 build:

Ignore the image compression though, that one is shit in the EVO trailer and footage, just focus on the lighting.

Yep, the E3 build looked a lot better.. I wonder what the reasoning is behind this.. I remember this exact same thing from doa5 alpha build, the lighting was awesome and got worse for the final release of doa5

he's always had scars but the characters textures were ass and they were (VERY) faint. just like he had facial hair but in DoA5 it just looked like dirt smudged on his chin.

It's pretty new on the iterations. Stagger escaping was very important though, it was one of the mechanics that prevents moves that are not guaranteed to be able to escape from. Reducing the stun and reducing the amount of guesswork was extremely vital to competitive play (which a lot of the competitive players are hoping for). You could prevent deaths from stuff people haven't realized where you don't need to hold at all. When you hold in DOA (or don't hold at all), you are extending the stun reducing your options to escape hits that's already implemented on you. It's like "there's no way you can hate on stagger escaping if it's giving you an option to escape a stun to punish them later for using slower start up moves".

Example:

Jann Lee H+K > (don't stagger) > CB > Juggle > 121 damage.

Jann Lee H+K > -Stagger Escape- > CB (blocked) > Player throw punishes CB > No health loss.

You just saved yourself from losing almost half your health. You might be one of the very small percentage of players who doesn't like the stagger escaping. Depending on the stun, stagger escaping from certain stuns also causes a pushback giving you breathing room for when you back dash.

Could you imagine if during EVO they just randomly revealed Lisa? Like could you imagine God blessing us mortals like that? My wig would catch fire on impact from how iconic that would be to be honest.

Our friend of Koei Tecmo EU had this to say today when asked:

Me: Who would win in a fight between Lisa and tonnes of concrete and steel crashing down on her at the end of DOA5?
KTEU: We're still doing the math

Take from that what you want...

She's so dead!

I know what stagger escaping is used for, but tbh I don't like to mash my pad to lower my opponent advantage, and I'd rather have each stun with a fixed number of frame advantage. Even as an attacker it would make things easier as you wouldn't have to know which strike works if your opponent is stagger escaping or not or if he's doing that well enough. But really, I hate to have to mash hcf hcb on my pad, my hands are sensitive :(.

Thank you though for all your explaining ! And like I said above, I'm a newbie so there might be some things that I don't understand yet.
