Every trench coat I've ever seen for both men and women was between the knee and ankle in length.
The majority of modern trench coats come up about 1-2 inches above your knee but of course the old school style still exists. Also I never thought about the longer ones protecting a suit in rain that's a good idea (not that I'd ever buy a long-@ss trenchcoat though. XD)
