The only part I didn't get was why it would be exactly half of infinity. Other than that, made perfect sense.
I have my notes somewhere and I can go more in depth some other time, but the basic rule of division is that you are, for a positive or negative value, creating "half" of the original. That is why dividing by zero, being nothing and therefore the opposite of everything, creates half of everything.
That is of course assuming the most basic action you can take when diving by zero, and as I said it's a god act. It is possible to mess with zero and any of the other numbers, but I don't really want to terribly mindfuck people with the concepts of using zero with other numbers, or god forbid zero itself. That would be the same as spawning an infinite number of infinites... a physics guy would at this point start branching into multiverse theories and all kinds of crap that relates to it, but thats not my area. It's complicated scary shit, we'll put it that way.
There's a lot of physical evidence that supports those theories outside of the math too, and that just makes the whole thing a lot scarier.
