Didn't have to be instant, i just don't like how long it's dragging on for such a short anime. with a series so small i'd like to have a bit faster character development and realization of themselves. Just don't like it anymore, i don't like how he's all " let's understand each other" blah blah, which i mean i agree with him the cycle of hatred will continue and he needs to break the cycle i get it. But i would have liked a lot more. i didnt read the manga though so maybe i'm just ignorant to things i may have missed.

Well, I haven't read the manga yet. I plan on doing so soon, but the anime might've butchered his character while trying to fit everything in only 12 episodes. Kaneki never wanted to become a ghoul in the first place, so he doesn't want to kill people, and from his standpoint, he just wants humans and ghouls to get along. He doesn't want to become a killer and just wants to live normally. (I'm going off the anime here lmAO)

N Tokyo Ghoul doesn't drag, its fast paced since its only 12 episodes

Yea i remember when he told the guy " don't make me a killer" and i understand he's a shy weak person who's afraid of violence and all of that. Maybe i grew up watching too many " naruto'/luffy/self understanding" protag's i just kinda thought he would embrace his power and learn to control it and become the " one eye'd king" But now all i see is

Malibu you should totally check out the manga sometime, if you want to see his character fully fleshed out and developed. I won't spoil anything, but a lot of your complaints are answered in the manga of Tokyo Ghoul. ^_^

Lol I'm gonna watch the anime just to see how different it is from the manga, the idea of 12 episodes is blowing my mind...the series is far too large for 12. I have to see this LOL

I don't get how anyone watches anything other than mindless action anime myself. You can't really see half of the stuff they do on anime in real life so sticking with the over the top shows like One Piece, Fairy Tail, Bleach, etc. makes sense to me. Can never get into slower paced stuff, but I also only really watch action shows and movies of any other type too. Just the little conversation going on here about how Tokyo Ghoul or whatever doesn't go into badass territory has me not wanting to watch it at all.

I'm into the action genre of anime myself, and actually I don't like investing in anime longer than 50 eps unless its really exciting.

If you like crazy action and fast pace I'd recommend Black Lagoon, Hellsing Ultimate, Gai Rei Zero or Gurren Lagann. Those animes are just jammed with action and thrills! The best part is they aren't super long(Like 12 ep range?), so it's easy to get into.

You're missing out on some really cool stuff then. i got bored of action anime about a year or two ago and started watching it a lot less. I've spent more time now watching Sports anime's, Romance, Comedy, Slice of life. Sometimes the slower anime's have the best story progression because you learn about the characters deeper, you learn to empathize and watch them grow for a longer period.

Like one of my fav's Beck: The Mongolian Chop Squad. It's just a anime about some friends starting a band, but it's the journey to that goal that makes the anime so damn good in my opininon. I got rather sick of action all the time though i still dabble from time to time. i just let Fairy tail, One piece, and naruto fill those gaps for me while watching other shows like Golden Time, My high school romance Comedy, and Angel Beats.

Gonna agree with Malibu on this one.

Anime is simply a medium for story telling. Sometimes that story involves mindless action augmented by pretty moving pictures. Sometimes its good enough it doesn't have to rely on that.

Sadly the 80's and early 90's was the last time that the industry was really passionate about telling good stories using Anime as a medium. The current generation is REALLY formulaic and gets tiresome fast. You almost have to abandon any thought of a decent story and just go for whatever show has the best animation for their fight-of-the-week setup.

There are exceptions, but its needle in a haystack.

Now I'm waiting for new chapter

I'm gonna watch the anime once it's on ep 12 though. Really want to see how everything looks in that version.
