  • So yeah...got my car broken into. All good news aside from that: no valuables lost, and the damage can be fixed through insurance. :)

    Believe me, I came close. I was upset at losing my wallet and it's contents, but then I remembered there was nothing in there that can't be replaced. Plus, the assailant didn't take anything else. A simple call to my bank and my insurance company did the trick. I'll be back on the road after some repairs in a few hours.

    Apparently the lot that I parked on has experienced a rise in break-ins recently. Another patron lost thousands of dollars that he left in his passenger side front seat, for example. o_o;

    All things considered, I got lucky. Could have been much worse.

    Looks like a best case scenario, all things considered. :)
    Played fatal fury 1 today and teared up a bit. First fighting game I remember playing.

    Didn't play til the genesis release. Terry couldn't do the power geyser in that version, if I recall correctly.
    Which PS4 controller has the best D-Pad?

    Do that all the time. I'll be dicking around in training mode, and then I'll save videos when I happen upon a move sequence I'll want to commit to memory. It's also during this time that I'll make note of my misses.

    There's also the possibility that I'm not as precise as I think I am. Anyway, there were good suggestions made here (thanks to you and @DestructionBomb ), and I've got a good starting point for research.

    Rule Number of Fighting Games.... Its never Your Fault. Always blame the controls.

    Atleast thats what I do... ;)

    Seriously though most Fighting Games deliberately make their controls convoluted and have the nerve to call it Deep and its for that reason I never take responsibility when shit doesn't work.

    Obviously DoA is the exception.
    What happened to Honoka's parents? o_o;
    Forogot to mention you can grab Dimesnions (Which is a really good one) for $10. Other than 5, I'd have to say it, and 5 + are my favoirites, due to them being on handhelds, and tyou can play anywhere. (Dimesnions is on the 3ds,a nd 5+ is on the vita.)

    Heh, I'll buy more games when I have money freed up. Right now it's bills and study materials. @_@;
    Which is harder, the Raijin or the Izuna-Otoshi? Both are ridiculous. @_@;

    The trick for the senko is to approach it as two parts rather than three. The first part is the expert hold, which changes based on side (67H on left, 49H on right). After that comes the swirly-dirlies, but these are not side dependent. Thus, learn the motion on whichever side makes you more comfortable, then just switch to that same motion after you complete part one on either side.

    All throw/hold izunas are the same input in that respect. The senko simply requires you to do them immediately without delay, whereas the otoshi (throw) and rekko (mid P) require a slight delay, and the yoko (low P and low throw) requires a long delay.

    Thus, feel free to practice on whichever version's speed is most intuitive to you (probably the mid variant), then speed up or slow down your motions as needed.

    The Izuna-Otoshi is miles easier, particularly on pad. Though, because there's so many Izuna variations, you get used to the 2nd & 3rd parts after awhile. The 3rd part of the Raijin feels incredibly unnatural on pad because it emphasizes the area that most modern controllers are shitty in: properly recognizing diagonals. It's easier on stick though at least. As for usefulness? No, waste of time.
    Trying to make room in my budget for other games. No such luck for now. :(

    Well... if you change your mind just keep an eye out for the Skull & Cross Bones. ;)

    Seriously though Consoles games are Expensive as Fuck in my country.... going from 7th Gen to 8th Gen resulted in a 30% Increase in new game prices.
    So, how long have you been playing DOA?

    @Camel with 2 thumbs - in DOA2 I played Hayabusa. DOA3 was Hayabusa, Hitomi, and Jann Lee.

    DOA4 was Spartan, Bankotsubo, and Leon.

    However I didn't start playing online for DOA until DOA5 vanilla because I was against paying for online on Xbox with the previous versions.

    Turns out we end up paying for online anyway and wasn't as bad as I thought it was in paying. DOA2 I wasn't very good and it didn't have tutorials. I got involved with the community and trying to learn the game+series at DOA3.
    Combo challenge = best learning tool in the game. :)

    I find that the Move Details is the best learning tool to me. After you've done the Tutorial, Command Training and Combo Challenges of course.

    I agree, great strategy tool. Only part that's still confusing to me as far as usefulness is frame data.
    Last thought for today (heh, talking too much): Is Super Smash Bros harder or easier than DOA?
    You ever beat level 8 with ease, and then drop back down to level 4 or 5 only to get walloped? What the fuck?
