I honestly can't see people liking DOA as a whole unless they like the gameplay. So what about tits, yeah people will like that appeal but why play a game if they don't seem to like the gameplay? I think that when people get a hold of a 3D fighter or franchise, they'll stick with it as their main 3D fighter since a good amount were released this year. I also think that they are just biased fucks but that's just me XD.

It's all about perception. Criticizms lodged against MK by people that don't play generally ended with "Well, the game is too easy to play. People only play MK for the gore and fatality gimmicks". Same thing with DoA; "It's not a serious fighter because it rewards button-mashing and is a counter-fest. The only reason people play DoA is the boobs".
Both games are seen by members of other communities as being gimmicks and not respected because of them.
Every game needs fan service. It is a fact of life. But as far as females go, it is hard to argue that DoA is the worst (best?!?) of them all. Ivy was mentioned earlier. Ivy is also the worst offender in a game that's really not so bad otherwise; there's Taki's bodysuit as well, but the rest of the female cast is pretty tame. MK is marketed as a "Mature" game and therefore the rules are a little different since it is the only one to do so. And let's be honest here, even though other games include swimsuits for their characters, the DoA string bikinis are the teeniest.
Another thing that makes DoA a target is the fact that Team Ninja puts the girls front and centre. It has always been about Kasumi, Tina, Ayane and Lei Fang from day 1 while the makes were treated as females are in other games. This for me was a drawing point to DoA. But when you go against conventional wisdom and advertise that fact, people are going to take thir shots.

Aside from all of that fan service ranting.... still DOA5 is the best fighting game of 2012 in my opinion. Some ppl said that DOA is only about selling girls and sex appeals, in my opinion,DoA as now in DOA5 sell good fighting game and sex appeals as bonus, I can't ask for more.
Why this is good fighting game, let us take an example, a newbie play online in DOA5 for the 1st time, lets say that his name is X, and his opponent is Y.
Yes, DOA5 in fact required intensive training to be good, like to know your characters ability, weight, tech, combos, timing, trick, counters, etc.
You need to think fast and have a great focus for winning a match with seasoned fighter online.
Seeing a game just because it have hot chicks and great sex appeals, and blind to the actual gameplay, now that's what we called n00bs. That is why fighting game never to be reviewed by n00bs that "only judge a book by it's cover." or "only judge DOA from the boobs". Peoples should stop being stereotype about game that has boobs or sex appeals is a retarded game.

Couldn't agree more, I really hate it when comes down to stereotyping.
Oh, talking about community, hopefully DOA got more attention next year from the communities.
The developer should pay more attention to the netcode for DOA5 instead of throwing more and more Costumes DLC, it's still below average connection stability compared to other fighting games out there...Well that is the case if they want the community to grow.
