In all honestly, do we really NEED yet another arena fighter? Aren't we overshadowed with those as is (thanks DBZ, MHA, JJK, etc.)? I'd rather it be a traditional one instead...

Absolute truth. I'd honestly like to see FF be done by ArcSystem works or something for a traditional one. Ever since the latest JJK game got heavily mixed/negative reviews, I think it's safe to say that some companies should probably just take a break from Arena Brawlers.

These days, it's possible that most of the companies that make them are obligated to do so to fill the quota of: "Here is next anime popular anime, now we make Arena Brawler".

But yeah, arena brawlers being made has been at it for many years, now they are most obvious to it.

So apparently Nomura has an interest to get Dissidia to return. Kinda doubt TN will be brought back due to the criticism they've received in developing the game, but not many companies out there can make an arena brawler either.

That's a damn shame, 'cause in my opinion, NT is way ahead of its time as a team-based arena fighter and - dare I say - the most technically sound.

Its only mistake was not letting the console version having more time to cook as thoroughly as its far more successful arcade version. I think its lifespan would've been so much longer if it had simply implemented a robust LAN feature.

While I somewhat agree (especially since it was more balanced than the old Dissidia games iirc), Dissidia NT was a bit too meta during it's time period. Most abilities to be slotted in were unused and players would pull the plug if teammates didn't run a specific setup, I had a FFXIV buddy that lost interest when he had EX skills slotted in such as "Share Bravery" and "Boon" where both his teammates pulled on him, but the moment I told him to swap to HP regen and Mighty Strikes, they stayed and spammed the character specific "Thank You" emote. It's just the nature of Arena Brawlers. Truth be told, there hasn't been a single balanced one out there and I doubt there will ever be one.

Someone forgot to mention that yes, you can choose to have Tifa and Aerith in bikinis, so I'd say it's a fair trade.

In no particular order my faves are:
Eclaire "Lightning" Farron (specifically FFXIII-1), Cloud Strife(Remake/Rebirth ver.), and I really liked Tidus despite everything.

The site I followed which had Tifa's Panty getting cutoff (featured in both Tekken 8 Tifa Guest Character article & FFVII Rebirth removes Tifa's Panties) didn't forget, their article about Tifa's Panty removed (mainly if you were Cloud you get to go into Tifa's room & collect her “orthopedic underwear”) was published by SankakuComplex on Feb 9, 2024 and Tifa & Aerith in Bikinis just came out on Feb 22, 2024.

Another thing having bikinis while taking away content from original FFVII, is a very bad trade.

Bikinis are nice to have (they could easily be things to have if they decide to bring Tifa & Aerith in FF spin offs or other games), but they should be additions not a replacement of removed/censored content from previous games.

The only trades I take game's price tag being expensive like $69.99 (or even higher), Monetization Practices (like $92 Season Passes & Spend $600 on Microtransactions on a Gacha Game to get 1 Outfit behind that paywall), and games that were running on limited budget/resources or commit to asset flips (like buying pre-built assets found in Unreal or Unity Store).

I got a few DMs for my bad mouthing of FFXIII and for my belief that Snow is a fucking CREEP, but now I'm afraid that has stirred me to take it to a whole new level. I've been playing FF for a long time, and I've played every last one of them other than DMC 16. Please realize that I am not shitting on your memories, or your fun with each title, but my memories of FF are different as I can now say that the majority of these games are fucking dog shit.

Will not even talk about I-V as they are a complete waste of time. FFVI was the first good game in the series, and it still appears to be the chosen one after all of these years. How? I do not know. FFVII is better in every sense of the word. What a brilliant game it was. Materia, combinations of Materia, the story the characters. My life would not be complete without this game. FFVIII comes out about a year later and totally rocks my world. I mean HOLY hell that game. Then they went to IX and despite playing as a FUCKING RAT and looking like a cartoon, the story actually captivated me as much as I wanted to hate it due to the FF community loving it.

Final Fantasy X is arguably one of the best RPGs of all time despite having one of the worst skill trees in existence. It was also hard and unforgiving. Every time I got to the next cut scene, I felt like I earned it. Final Fantasy X-2 was one of the best games in the series and I knew it was going to be slandered by the "community" of FF because well look what they define as a masterpiece. It was so fun, and I got more Yuna.

FFXII was where it all went wrong. I said fuck my life so many times while playing that despotic pile of shit. The voices of those characters still haunt me to this day. I couldn't believe how uninteresting the storyline and characters were. I also can't believe I chose to 100% the game. Maybe it was because the RNG spoiled me with a fast Bone-Breaker. IDK but the game can royally fuck off.

FFXIII was the BIGGEST load of shit I've ever played. Quite possibly the worst game in the history of the franchise. Like FFXII it was about interesting as watching a Jane Fonda interview and about as fun as poking yourself in the eye with a pencil. I did not understand or like any of these characters. This stupid saga introduced a lot of people to FF and it's such a pity that this was their first impression. Outside of the battle theme, this game was a nightmare and was the start of my disbelief that this series could ever be good again.

FFXV was a breath of fresh air. To me it felt like maybe there was some life left to the series. This was MY Kingdom Hearts because Kingdom Hearts sucks and if you like Kingdom Hearts BOY OH BOY do I feel sorry for you.

FFXVI I can't really discuss, but if I want DMC I'll play DMC. To me this was another step back for FF if I'm being real as I can be. Too much boring politics that nobody gives a shit about. What was Square thinking when writing XIII, XVI and especially XII. Nobody gives a fuck about those storylines. We want love and triangles of love. That's what made VII-X-2 so fucking good.

That leads me to Remake which served as a FANTASTIC blueprint to Rebirth which is one of the finest games ever made. I don't know HOW the fuck they did it.

Probably a wild (or maybe not) post on my end, but the best FF game I played is ironically an MMORPG which is FFXIV ahaha. Not vanilla, but from Heavensward and beyond.

In terms of mainline single player ones, I think the only FFs I genuinely did not enjoy was FFXIII and Lightning Returns. If anything, FFXIII-2 was probably my most enjoyed one even if the story was all over the place, but the combat and pet battle monster minion I thought was super cool. In regards to FF16, personally i'm neutral with the direction since there are games that exist with a skin behind it. Stranger of Paradise for example is basically a Nioh with an FF skin attached, but there are some things I enjoy with Stranger of Paradise more in some aspects. I prefer Nioh 2's character customization, but I prefer Stranger of Paradise combat flow and building character strengths so I typically avoid the idea of: "if I want to play a X game, then I just play that game". Same with DMC.

When I played and finished FF16 I enjoyed it, but I can completely understand where you are coming from. Some bits of it doesn't hit the mark sometimes. Because of how medieval and moody it is, they probably could of just done an OG Warrior of Light FF1 remake at that point, but instead they made it almost........ Game of Throne-ish? strangely I liked it in some way, but I understand where you are coming from.
