Has anyone played 'Stranger of Paradise?' I'm interested, but I'm also wondering how long I can tolerate that red crystal creature death animation.
Been playing it and has been an absolute blast. Very fast paced & fun. The characters such as Jack is extremely hilarious for no damn reason.
Some of the downsides to FF Origins: Stranger of Paradise is the graphical output and has a lower customization count than that of Nioh, more specifically Nioh 2 but it makes sense since it's original characters. For some odd reason, there is this weird track record of TN having this split 50/50 of diminishing returns of sacrificing good graphics for high gameplay, or sacrifice good gameplay for high graphics. Some are quick to blame Square for it, but all they did was add the concept story. TN was the ones that developed the game realistically.
However I can't throw them under the bus fully since Stranger Paradise does looks like it was originally intent for PS5 (game being played on the PS5 was pretty well done) while the PS4 version was a bit shafted, PS5 is a more powerful hardware so it's understandable (hence why I also bought the PC version as backup and been playing it there). I still think there has to be something in a little of between for console considering Stranger Paradise is like Nioh where it's not over-the-top AAA quality like Horizon Forbidden West. A game like Nioh wasn't exactly demanding. If you check online, you'll notice that there is very good praise on the game and overall quality on PS5 vs mixed to average reviews on PS4, but most of those great praises were actually on PS5 with many unaware that PS4 is running on a lower optimization. Heck, even the demo ran at a lower resolution below 720p on PS4. The demo performance was so rough that the environment and characters were extremely washed out and pixelated. It's like playing with one eye open where everything is harder to see compared to using two eyes.
Overall, Stranger Paradise is worth the price for me so far. If you plan to get it, I highly recommend to get the game on either PS5/PC. I don't recommend getting it on the PS4 from testing but that's just me, it's not that bad for consistent play but the faults are noticeable where if you want the to enjoy the best version, you'd probably have to play the version where you won't exactly notice those issues.
