Who said that? The point was that people won't support DOA6 being present on EVO in big numbers as you suggested. They don't care for DOA6 there/don't care for DOA6 in general. I don't actually know who are "they" but it will be more easy if you quote all these takes and we check if people actually thought it was a big marketing win or you are just exaggerating it "a bit".

What I remember is people thinking it was the end for DOA6 and other people and me claiming that other franchises and DOA survived in the market without being main EVO games.

I think quite a few people actually complained about DOA not making it to EVO. If you watched the announcement day stream @Tyaren you would have seen that more clearly. Plus the Core Values meme as @Project Bokuho mentioned was a way for people to directly attack and take shots at Mr. Wizard for just being an asshole overall to DOA like he always been... even in a time where the game was exactly where you wanted it from a casual perspective.

Fast forward a few months later... and nobody cares because Team NINJA is taking their sweet time doing anything beneficial to DOA6.

After DOA4 made an appearance yeaaaaars ago he said he would never let DOA back again. That's one instance. Core Values is the other... thinking that somehow what Shimbori did was any worse than the level of violence that regularly graces his screens. Bringing his American values to Japan and forcing that belief on them.

And that whole Core Values stunt is more Koei Tecmo's fault than Shimbori's because they're the ones that greenlit the idea of hiring gravure models to play with there tits to help market a FIGHTING GAME at a event meant for COMPETITIVE PLAYER.

Evo has rules which Koei didn't follow, it has nothing to do with American or japanese beliefs.

Not to mention nobody knows the full scoop behind those models. You also don't have any proof that KT told the models to act that way; perhaps they acted on their own accord. What did they actually do to offend people? It's an M-rated game with sexually themed content.

'Core Values' strikes out as one of the dumbest things he has said, and it's why it was highlighted by many different communities for a number of reasons. Fighting games are provocative and don't cater to core values in any visual sense of the word.

I'm not voting for DOA to be at EVO nothing because DOA was never wanted their in the first place. I don't go where I'm not wanted. Logically it makes perfect sense.

AND can you actually point me to a person that likes Mr. Wizard that isn't involved from a business stand-point? Let me guess... you?

Gameplay has been a problem, but at least people with gameplay oriented focus, players care about where the game is going. Casual minded fans that don't care about the competitive scene don't really care about lifespan for games because they are more disposable to those types of people.

You're opinion and your guesses on this matter are trite and not true. Before EVO of last year DOA5 (a much older game) was doing better in the views than Tekken, and it's been recorded. Entries and viewership were doing great actually. I know this why? Because I've written reports for nearly every offline tournament for the game.

If that's the case nearly every fighting game ever made has been at EVO as there are plenty of side tournaments and tables... shit they even sell games like Final Fantasy VII at the booths. So I guess FFVII has also been a game at EVO according to your ridiculous logic. If you aren't a main game -- you do not matter to Mr. Wizard and you do not matter by the majority of attendants.

If you like him or are a fan of him -- that is your own problem and you will face it alone. DOA5 should have been a main game at EVO because it deserved it, the community deserve it; and it was a fantastic game.

Then you have to guess they are blind and they didn't look at them for almost all the show because the stream was cut almost at the end.

You can't just say "we will bring three random people", you have to explain who they are and what they will do.

How many people coming from Gamefaqs need to get owned before they realize the game isn't simply going to die because you say that nobody cares and you think it's an effective strategy to ensure the devs do what you want them to do.

People have been saying DOA is going to die for years, mainly people that don't care about gameplay and care more about taking stupid pictures with a stupid loli... and now here we are in 2019 and DOA is still going. The sad thing is; the casuals are getting what they want. The boobs are still there, tons of camera options, they get their anorexic anime lolis and it's still not enough.
