"Toning down blah blah" Let's talk about the EVO event...

I don't even know anymore what the hell message they are trying to convey. In so many interviews they say they are toning down the sexually suggestive aspects, blah blah, then for their EVO promotion they:

1) Have sexy gravure models on stage pointing out their T&A and talking about their jiggle, and
2) Freeze the game on the most sexually suggestive move possible, making it look like Bass is performing "something" on Nyo, and making sexual jokes about this for several minutes in a live stream to the entire world

What. In. The. Fuck?

Additionally making the Nyo/Bass “joke” isn’t just another “lol boobs” situation, they’re making a joke about sexual assault, something DOA as a fighting game has never done before. It’s way worse than the usual fare.

That move and the animations are nothing new in DOA. I noticed when freezing the gameplay in 5 that MANY moves seem to be purposefully made to be sexually suggestive. I have no issue with it, but what are they thinking focusing on something like that at an EVO event???????? And what is with their back and forth when it comes to the fanservice?????? It's actually really annoying.

Cover them in burqas or make it a full blown porn game at this point, for Christ's sake just make a decision... lol

That move's not sexually suggestive in itself, it's a pretty standard wrestling move. It's them specifically angling the camera to make a sexual assault joke that I have a problem with, and as far as I know they've never done that. The "sexuality" of DOA has always just been bouncing boobs and some goofy costumes, largely pretty innocent, but shit like this is really gross.

Tbh I think at the point of the Evo stream, because Shimbori was trying so hard to please both side of the player base, he said fuck it and just opted to have the models and showcase that camera mode with Bass and Nyo to show that nothing was really toned down. He probably thought that because they already finished a pro exhibition beforehand that it would be cool but it basically backfired xD

As a producer you would think that so much back and forth would be an obvious thing to avoid in order to gain and keep respect. What he is doing by continuing to switch sides is angering literally all fans, because no one knows who he truly stands with, or if he even really cares about the direction of the game at all.

The thing is, though, DOA6 *is* toned down compared to 5. Women’s boobs don’t ricochet around like they did in Last Round, and costumes are much less stupid and strippery. Also they got rid of the soft core porn vision videos of each woman wiggling around in a beach.

What makes this pathetic is that I guess Shimbori or whoever panicked and felt they needed to please the 20 or so knuckle draggers on Twitter and pull this stunt. It’s extra pathetic because it’s clear this shit’s not in the game. They had to bring in adult entertainers and fiddle with a camera mode to make it look like a porn game.

Absolutely pitiful.

PR disasters have been TN/Shimbori's calling card with DOA6 from the start. Still going to play it. Game looks amazing.

Definitely threw an actual folder full of files in the air at my office when I saw the news though. Whatever lmao DOA the tiddy fighter.

I don't think was that bad. There's no skimpy costumes, no jiggling breast and they really trying to showcase the gameplay in DOA6. They were just playing with the camera.

Y'all blowing it out proportion. Just seem like innocent. Anyone outside of DOA probably weren't gonna take it seriously anyway.

I'm probably in the minority on FSD, I proudly admit to liking all the fanservice DOA has ever had to offer.

I think some of you are in for a bit of a surprise once they start rolling out the DLC if you really think DOA5's "stripper" outfits are a thing of the past. And don't forget that the gravure videos weren't originally in DOA5.

Anyway, I wish he would just stay based and stop trying to act like the game is something it's not.

I'm fairly certain anyone who had any preconceived notion that the Fanservice DLC was not returning had that shattered to a billion pieces when they announced how many costumes were going to be in the season pass.

If you think about it this last bit of PR is perfectly poetic for TN to end on before launch. They announced it with one of the most conservative Kasumi C1s weve ever seen, and they're launching it after the great "Core Values" cataclysm of 2019.

I'm not sure why this needed a topic. Don't stoke the damn flames people.

For as much shame as we put on ourselves and TN and KT, most people aren't even focusing on this and are calling out Mr. Wizard, honestly let it be and just walk it off.
This. Plus let's be real, no matter how hard TN tries, people are gonna just knock it anyway, in the twitch chat and pretty much any time DOA streams high level matches, most of the messages are negative "titty fighter" or "rule 1: don't pick the males" ones xD DOA wasn't gonna be taken seriously at all so this stun TN pulled on the evo stage is gonna be more a meme than a sabotage.

At this point idc about the controversy all that much, I'm just ready for DOA6. I don't think it's worth beating ourselves over the game dev's choice since even he was flip flopping in interviews and not keeping on track. People are always just gonna bandwagon hate on DOA and we just have to accept that

I think the main issue here is how much Shimbori changes sides. I myself have no problem with fanservice (I’m hoping for a fricking Bayman costume as creatively revealing as the girls, not just an underwear thx), but I do dislike the fact Shimbori just don’t make up his mind. That’s exactly what made DOA6 get such a shitstorm in the first place with the whole “no tiddy no buy” drama last year.

For the other part, I honestly don’t give a fuck they brought those gravure idols or showed the tiddy physics (the sexual remark between Bass and Nyo was a big yikes tho since DOA is more eye candy and teasing than actual sex but ok lol), especially after EVO also hosted MK11. It’s 2019 and I’m already tired Americans see sex as something to ban yet they have no problem on showing literal decapitation and organs flying around. Ban everything or just don’t ban anything.

Yeah, I guess I'm overreacting. It's pretty clear now that DOA is sticking with it's fanservice, despite what some people were hoping for (less fanservice) so I am indeed happy about that.

Uh, sorry for taking a producer of a video game for his word when he talks about the changes he's making to his video game?
The problem is when you and others take it from one extreme to the next instead of settling on a possible middle ground. You make it seem like if we don't get bikinis and OMG physics, then we get burqas and amish dresses...

Cover them in burqas or make it a full blown porn game at this point, for Christ's sake just make a decision... lol
...as you said here. What about the 4 other main entries in the series that managed to be a balance of both? 5 got yall WAY too comfortable with the fetish outfits, and now the producer actually sees an issue with it and wants to bring things back to the way they used to be. If you want a porn game, there's a new version of DOAX3 coming out, check that out and leave the fighting game be.

Toning down =/= remove something. The word itself already tells you it’s nothing but minimizing the ridiculous levels DOA5 reached with its DLCs. I’m not Einstein and I got from day 1 that the fanservice wasn’t going anywhere but just being reduced to the way it was before and not turning the game into literal nude 3D models with some diamonds stuck in the girls’ pussies and nipples lol, idk what went wrong with y’all people who literally flooded websites like gamefaqs or r/DeadOrAlive saying the game was dead cuz the fanservice was cut outta the game just after seeing (1) fricking trailer.
