DOA2 Beta and Hacking Finds

I just found a few unique song mixes on an earlier version of DOA2. They're in-between the arcade and home versions so I'm referring to them as WIP mixes.

Beta Console version (Build 20010107)

Music Differences:

Ein

Jann Lee

Zipped the three beta songs and their final counterpart ADXes together so you can use them as you wish or compare directly for yourself.
I recommend Foobar and an extra component called "kode54's ADPCM decoders" if you want to play them directly.

Edit: Here's Jann Lee

OMG! You managed to rip the Dreamcast demo music? SWEET! Are you able to rip D.O.A.(Character Select) beta version as well?

These sound awesome. The Vigaku buildup is better in this WIP mix IMO. Any Tina? ;)
There's a limited number of songs on here (Helena, Ayane, Kasumi, Ein, Leifang, Jann Lee, Char Select) and only the bolded are different in this build. I was going nuts and thought Kasumi's theme was sounding different but I did a checksum comparison against the final version and knew it was time to go to sleep.

Here you go. Was trying to make sure the ones I put up were actually beta and different.

Are there more of these beta mixes? I like to hear more of them. If there is more....
I never knew this existed.

Here's a link to a wiki with text differences present in the beta demo and the final US build. Changed lines are noted by bold text.

I don't get it, since these are in between the 1999 SEGA NAOMI arcade version and the final retail version it seems like it could either be 3 things:

1) They were going for a remixed soundtrack, but dropped that idea and just remade the same OST with better sounds later (Dreamcast/PS2 .ver)
2) The team actually reused old assets from possibly the early NAOMI Demo from early 1999 (I really hope it's this)
3) These slightly altered tracks were made just for this demo (I doubt)

not sure why anyone hasn't mentioned this, but early versions of doa2 list raidou and genra in roster. i'm guessing berserk rival means the kasumi clone but I've never had her working in any game. also doa 2 naomi has unused sounds which are easily accessible in the test menu. ayane has an unused reply to helena's "you killed my mother", and the kasumi vs kasumi clone intro has 2 unused lines and a lot of unused sound effects.

Right. There are a couple unused sounds in the arcade roms. The following I can recalled:

*Jann Lee and Kasumi has "kiai" sounds (like they are "charging"/"pumping up" during fights but TN cut them because both doesn't have attacks or animations for that)
*Kasumi Alpha has more lines and creepy "hehehee"'s
*The Kasumi Vs. Kasumi Alpha unused batch, the lines are from Kasumi herself, I'm guessing she was describing Alpha, I assuming.

EDIT: So Genra was supposed to be in 2 and Raidou was coming back? Interesting.

Here's all the audio files from the Dreamcast 2000-01-27 beta (https://mega.nz/folder/ZWQBDKQQ#dm3ALQ75QsYjbnXASslGmg).

The DTPK folder contains all the original files for the music, voice acting and sound effect and you can use this app to extract the sound effects (https://github.com/Shenmue-Mods/DTPKUtil/releases/download/1.2/DTPKutil.zip).

To convert the music, you need this app (https://github.com/Sappharad/aosdk/tree/am2snd) - which is a nightmare to get to work on modern linux and so I've included the compiled binary in that folder (aosdk-x86_64-linux-gnu).

I've already converted the music to DSF with am2drvext.py, which you can play directly in Foobar with this plugin (https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_ht).

Also included are the MIDI output and all the samples sorted in their own folder, but the samples are incorrectly labeled 44khz in their headers when most of them are 11khz and they play way too fast. It's a one byte change in a hex editor but there's thousands of samples... so I'm just going to leave them as-is. Maybe someone else can figure out how to correct the file headers en masse.
