I was actually wondering where on that character select screen is the custom soul option? Maybe they haven't added that part yet. Also I'll definitely be posting my custom souls here on this thread once the game comes out now that it will be so much easier to do than It was back on the xbox 360 etc.

just please dont be cosplays.

I hated back in 345 where everyone was like "lol look i made mario/snake/hulk/zelda".

Lol! You don't need to worry about that. :p I wasn't a massive fan of that either where all anyone ever did was try to create other characters, It was fun to try and I did manage to make Jade. :p But that got old quickly, I always much rather preferred to make actual original custom characters.

Someone over on Resetera filled in characters that are very likely going to be in (on which I pretty much agree)...
Wait, is Zasalamel really that popular? I mean yeah, he looks cool, and the idea of a scythe fighter is amazing, but the dude's moveset was atrocious. Did people really like playing him that much?

i dunno. i didnt play scIII but i used his moveset for a lot of custom characters in 4, and it was pretty devastating once you figured it out.

I enjoyed playing as Zasalamel. He had some flashy combo's with good ring out capabilities but not over the top like Hilde in SCIV. His playstyle was unique. Would like to see him come back if Alpha Patroklos or Setsuka doesn't return.

Zasalamel placed 8th in the official character popularity poll.

Yes please let Setsuka return! It was such a shame when she wasn't in SC5, And yeah was in SC3 so she should return, No idea how she ranks in terms of the popularity polls though but she invented umbrella's and hair dye back in the 16th century so I think that should stand for something. :p

I wonder actually now what the date will be for this game? Because at the time of SC3 Amy was what?.... 12?! So I don't know If she'll be playable but I hope she is. I guess when we begin to get more and more info we'll find out stuff about the date of this game.

Just so everyone knows, a french magazine called "Gamekult" reviewed the SCVI demo. Namco says that the current character selection screen isn't final.

Wow. Huh.
These things always surprise me. Like when Yumi turned out to be the most popular SK character by far.

Got a link to that poll, by any chance? (apologies if it was already posted recently; too lazy to search)

Okay well if the current character select screen isn't final that's good, I'm guessing that means there's will be more than 20 characters rather than that they just mean thew look of the screen. I have so many characters I keep thinking of that I'd like to see so I just hope they make it in.

Also interested in seeing what the other characters outfits will be like and if each character will have alternate outfits?

Edit: Also I'm checking 8wayrun right now and they're saying pretty interesting things -

One being that apparently the roster is expected to be in the 20 to 30 range at launch and that they might hold back characters they've made just now for I guess possible dlc? Obviously this isn't confirmed or anything but just something I've seen.

Another is that the Greek stage that's been shown apparently has a colon on it to show the location of the shrine so it's a possible there will be multiple locations at the shrine meaning possible Cassandra.

Lol, Japan...
(Lol, ignorant Westerners...)

On characters such as Ivy:
GC: I know you can’t talk about other characters in the game, but the design and attire of a character like Ivy – whether she’s in the new one or not – are a lot more problematic today than they were when the series began. Is that something you intend to address?
MO: [long pause] I understand that there are different opinions about such characters. So I think what’s most important is how you want to express and design such characters, and not just the female characters. But I still want to keep the body shape and the atmosphere of each character to be the backbone of each character.
GC: Do you have female designers working on the team?
MO: Of course!

It's always funny when Westerners confront Japanese developers about the controversial depiction of women in games, because it is a big and important topic over here. The thing is, it isn't a big and important topic in Japan. They don't care.
The reaction is always the same: slight bewilderment, incomprehension and a very politely phrased answer, that they will keep on doing exactly what they were doing all the years before.
The ignorant follow up question if there are even any female designers among the team was shut down pretty well too.
There are lots of female Japanese designers that design just as sexualized female characters too. Many (most even?) Japanese women, because of the culture they grew up in, don't see a beautiful, sexy or cutely dressed woman as something offensive. On the contrary, many aspire to be just as beautiful or cute.

Yep I just saw that same interview a while ago... For a start when they used the word "problematic" *eye rolls* that instantly sets the tone of how the question is going to be asked at that point to me. Not to mention like you said just because they personally find it offensive doesn't mean it is to everyone else. Oh well though, These people are annoying, They did the same thing with Bayonetta, Got offended by her design because she was sexy, Not to mention like you also mentioned it was actually a woman that designed Bayonetta. So I don't know If they think that all people or at least women are like them and don't like sexual designs or would make them but... If they do think that... they're wrong.
