Trust me, I understand where both sides of the camps are coming from. In the case of SF4, the updates that came out were far more spread out and were mainly released to keep competitive players interested. The updates for DOA5 seemed to do the opposite, as many players seemed to just tired out of the game, despite it still being a very good (albeit, flawed) game. But in the case of updating DOA5 vanilla, Team Ninja would have eventually ran out of space. Also, DOA5 was ported to current gen and PC because fans demanded it, which was fair since the PS4 was lacking in a 3D fighter to begin with. But that's a different discussion for a different time, because Last Round is still young and has room to grow. We could see new stages and a new character soon, with some new modes, which was mentioned before. Let's just wait and see.
Well see that's another reason people are getting so burnt out.
We get all excited for possible new content, then it's just....I don't wanna say "crap", but "Meh". The DLC characters so far, only ONE was a new character, and even she got hate for the uninspired design. Otherwise we have 4 clones (an actual clone, a genderswap, two mimic characters), and all the "new" stages are just old returning stages because the realized they suck at making new ones.
So that leaves costumes, which MOST of us gave up on until recently because its just fetishwear and bikinis for 3 years, with the OCCASIONAL good costume.
Really, it was Ultimate's lifespan that did the most damage. DLC quality bumped back up to early Vanilla levels with Last Round (The costumes, anyway), with the fan designs, "other game" packs, etc, etc.
Like after Marie Rose, Phase 4, Nyo, and especially Honoka, I have absolutely zero faith in any new DLC characters being worth a damn. Costumes...unless they're from another game, or fanmade, they'll likely be crap barely worth a glance.
