But anyways, I pretty much burned 15$ buying outfits for DOA5LR again...
- Bought 2 Deception costumes for now(Kasumi's and Nyo's because Main characters of Deception 4 including the expansion)
- Bought 3 different costumes for Kasumi, Nyo and Honoka(Ninja 2015 for Kasumi because HNNNNGGHHHH, and Nyo's and Honoka's bikinis because why the fuck not?)
- And bought Nyo's and Honoka's superhero packs because again, why not?(But seriously, Nyo's remind me so hard of Doronjo, who if I had TvC...fucking Capcom...she would be my main with Soki in a heartbeat).

Also they earn more scorn every time they speak. So goddamn shrill...
But seriously holy shit there's nothing to talk about anymore. Just...waiting till the next DLC pack, I guess. Waiting till october to see what fan designs made it in. And which characters got screwed out of it by not getting ANY fan designs (2014 Mila/Lisa halloween outfits...)

That's not really all that much considering the hatred I've seen boils down to "They are too Japanese".
And their voices can be shrill but it's not that bad(TRUST ME, I've heard so much worse that even trying to say that this is bad is impossible).
And no, there isn't really much to talk about unless it's hoping that we get some good looking costumes in the coming months(And some good Halloween costumes for this year...come on Succubus Queen/Lilith Nyotengu).

Its more that they stick out like a sore thumb, and not in the good way. It'd be like if Ronald Mcdonald was in Mortal Kombat. With no fatalities or "brutal" attacks. Or if the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had Barney as guest ranger. Rubble OR dinosaur. Or hell, even Don Knotts.
It's not that they "are japanese". It's that they are straight copy pastes of existing anime characters. Honoka probably could have passed easier in past DOAs when it still was anime, but Marie Rose never could fit in. World top fighters fighting a corporation that wants to make engineered supersoldiers! And an inexplicable 8 year old bondage loli with pigtails! The fuck?
And yes there's worse...in other series. but in this one, they ARE the worst.
I wish we could see the submitted designs so I could get a feel if my Magician Mila has a chance or not. Doubt it, but it'd be nice to know.

If you want to use that logic from the above, in actuality Honoka and Marie would fit right in with DOA(You state that they are existing copies of Anime characters...but all the DOA characters are basically Anime characters, right down to their core and the sheer ridiculousness of what they can do...just like any other Japanese Fighting Games). And to be frank, I feel Lei-Fang and Hitomi are far more bubbly than they are at this rate, honestly still out "kawaii-ing them" in the scenes they share and their tag interactions.
Again, they fit right in DOA considering what it is and how the other characters feel and act as.
And their fighting styles aren't really that absurd and I still feel Honoka's clone fu is still better than actual clone characters that are a waste of space like Charade, Elysium, etc.
I have the feeling that both of you really share in that bias which makes this whole argument pointless to continue it.

Good news is that (maybe) with the presence of Marie and Honoka, maybe TN will try to make Lei Fang and Hitomi more like the way they used to be (respectively DOA2 "Kung Fu Genius" Lei Fang and DOA3 "one-punch-and-you're-down" Hitomi).
I guess what they're trying to say is: DOA has too many cutesy girls (or joke characters in general) in the game and there should be more serious characters with better personalities. And honestly, Hitomi and Leifang had much better personalities during the DOA3 era.

A lot of things were better during the DOA3 era. Those were the gold days of Dead or Alive. Even if the game as evolving quite well, some things were missed in the way.

No problemo with other characters. Not even with Nyotengu, Alpha, and Cyborg Raidou since they're clearly shown as half-human.
It's not about how much a character wants to act cute. But these two are out of place. Like I said again, Marie Rose's fighting style is utter ridiculous and far away from being believable like the rest. As for Honoka, I'm totally fine with "someone who steals other fighters' technique". Shingo Yabuki from KOF does the same towards Kyo, but with different characteristic. Meanwhile, Honoka is just a pack of other character's animation frames loaded into her joints. That's where it's crap - and their designs are like forced too. "Oh here a flat chested underage-looking loli and a big-boobed underage-looking J-pop idol that's totally 18 years old" Yeah, sure. Looking forward to the real concept behind them.

I agree with you, but you're not going to convince anyone here. Grumbling and complaining is a popular pastime on the internet, and that's especially true with the DOA community. They're either complaining that DOA5 isn't as good as some older version that no one gives a rat's ass about now; or that Itagaki, that irrelevant old prick, would somehow have made the game better in some unspecified way; or that Marie Rose and Honoka somehow hurt the realism of this game, even though the entire female cast looks like they walked out of a Victoria's Secret catalogue, and we're supposed to believe that one of these girls could actually defeat someone like Bass, Bayman, Rig, or Jann Lee?
You will probably disagree, but I think DOA5 has found just the right balance of realistic fighting and over-the-top fantasy action. Moreover, the new characters are all awesome IMHO, including Marie Rose. Honoka is the only character that I'm not thrilled by. The reuse of assets when creating a new character is always a disappointment. Hopefully, TN got enough negative feedback to convince them to never do it again.
