Bayonetta has conquered the Creator herself. The "fiend slayer" ain't got sh*t on her. XD
Bayonetta's if not, one of the strongest female video game characters in existence she'd probably sneeze and destroy Rachel.

aNYWAYYYYYYYYYYY Sorta back on topic? LOL. tbh I'm glad the DLC for Last Round is turning about to be.. promising? (for now) It sure is a nice break from all the fetish wear we were bombarded with w/ ultimate's Lifespan. I don't care if they're just ninja recolors or not, it sure beats towels and bunny outfits.

Idk, Ayane in a towel with her ponytail hairstyle looks pretty damn sexy to me. A fun costume to use, especially when I beat an oopponent in nothing but a towel. Ayane looks bad ass in anything.

Hm, that "mummy" bandages for Momiji and Mila from Halloween is something i can't decide. Me personally has this fetish of "bandages instead of clothes" which i dont find often being used in media but it's obviously pretty lazy thing in modelling, texturing and design.

Well obviously SOMETHING is going to cater to peoples specific fetishes. Like Milas "just button up and panties" bedtime dlc is a guilty pleasure for me.

But that doesn't excuse the waves and waves of fetish dlc.

Or I should say, that's the point, TN is just throwing out quantity over quality in the grounds that SOMEBODY has that specific fetish.

But I am absolutely willing to
A) admit its still inappropriate for the character and the game.
B) willing to give it up if it would encourage real costumes.

Its like...in dw8 I can't bring myself to get any if the dlc outfits because everything is woefully out of place during actual gameplay.

Like...the girls may be showing keg and cleavage but its still ARMOR or at least somehow befitting them, not just sexy for the sake of sexy and fuck immersion.

Stopping the rant here, just saying sexy is fine so long as it actually works with the character, which is something TN isn't even attempting to do most of the time.

But because the dlc outfits almost never actually suit the character it comes across as either pointless for those who care about the characters, or encouraging people who dont.

Seems redundant to me to fix the "same face" issue with doa5, but then nullify it by changing the problem to "same costume", too

I think that oversaturation of bikini sets etc. removes personality from them. They all starting look the same kinda.

I don't get this logic at all...ever.

You stick a badass in a clown suit he doesn't somehow get less badass. Having him stay in clown suits for the duration of his time STILL doesn't stop him from kicking loads of ass or anything else.

I don't see Ryu being less threatening in a banana suit then him in his ridiculous Ninja-BDSM outfit, so how does this work past forcing the females to seem like they lose personality? Because it's still there and a strong person in personality and looks is still strong wearing whatever regardless.

I guess you guys taking the saying "Clothes make the Superman" a bit too far...

You can call what i say a hyperbole, but for me clothes, hair etc. have much stronger impact of image that is being created for each character than what leaves if you strip away everything.

I know I'm just wasting my breath, but to sum it up; image is part of the identity.

If Batman switched to a clown costume, it wouldn't matter how much ass he kicks, he won't have the same reputation.

And in a fighting game, image and fighting style are the only identity markers present, so losing the image removes half the identity of characters. That's a big reason people aren't okay with "all characters have the same outfit".

If you were really okay with that, then maybe youd be okay with the entire doa roster being replaced with a single Mokujin/Charade character choice, but a lot of us are arguing against dlc slowly turning things into that situation.

Thats why it would have been okay for a fetish outfit here and there, but now its MOSTLY fetish outfits, with almost nothing that represents the characters themselves which is pissing me, and a lot of other people off.

On the clothes make the superman thing..strip the powers away first... well lets put it this way. When Steve Rogers ditched the red white and blue uniform for a blue and goals caped costume, he was no longer Captain America. He was now Nomad. When Clint Barton trades out the purple archers outfit for a black and yellow ninja getup, he was no longer Hawkeye. Now he's Ronin.

A characters signature look is a HUGE part if their identity. Variations are allowed, but their outfits generally stick to a definite style/theme.

For example. The Schoolgirl dlc, people like, because each is still tailored to suit the girls individual personalities. The rest? Not so much, because they are generic and just slapped on, to the point where they completely clash with the actual character.

Like Helena's outfits stick to an elegant, majestic feel. So the ones that are just fetishistic or sexy without being tailored to her are generally just awkward. Milas defaults are all sporty or practical. So the generically cute/sexy dlc doesn't fit her at all.

Like the new girly hairstyle on the generically cute/sexy outfits for Mila? That literally turns her into a completely different character, because its the total polar opposite of her.

You say costumes don't matter, but anyone who understands visual association would argue otherwise. I generally dress in what would be considered a more bkur collar style. Boots, work jeans, flannel button up, sleeveless undershirt, baseball/trucker cap.

When I overhaul my look, switch to dress shoes, pants, nice officer clothes, shave, and gel my hair, I am treated as if people can't recognize me at first.

Image matters, a LOT, and the dlc is/has diluted the girls' individual images.

I think some characters have sexy costumes that fit their character. Tina for example, all those sexy fetish costumes kind of fit for her. The ones I have more of a problem with are the costumes that clash with the character's theme and personality, like for example giving Christie a cheerleader costume looks so stupid.

The problem is that Hayashi(Who I believe is the one behind this oversexualitation) only seem to care about money and doesn't care if that outfit fit the character or not. So as long as he remain the head of TN, we will have those kind of things.

It won't change as long as people keep buying them. They are just maintaining the demand by giving off the desired supply which is basic business logic. If this [the demand] is gonna change, people in mass either stop buying those kind of outfits and/or buy more of the "appropriate" type outfits. Japan isn't just guilty of this either so easier said then done.

Which is really frustrating. It leaves me going "why the fuck bother" when we know there actually are people who buy this shit in bulk which undermines all arguments
