The reason why they ended up doing that move was it was actually more difficult to perform then ryu's izuna and more inconsistent as well, but i agree with this statement

And actually balancing the izuna holds in certain complicated set-ups does require what I consider effort, yes.

Couldn't you just churn the butter? I think the problem was probably that it actually required timing. They probably made the window similar to Ryu's now
