Characters New Character Discussion

Well, Team Ninja might have told us some details, but not enough details. We only saw a glimpse of her in recent trailers. There's even a specific date of her reveal. Not exactly "secrets" per se, but they are definitely hyping her up. Well, I'm getting hyped because it's a totally new character like Marie Rose and not a rehash such as Nyo, Phase, and Raidou.

Well, when someone translated that the male character was a "fan favorite" and "resurrected," it was safe to assume that it was going to be either Raidou, Genra, or even Donovan. Now, had the male character not been Raidou and a totally brand new fighter, then I'm sure Team Ninja would have kept him under wraps as well.

I agree, whole new characters get twice the hype than comebacks, unless said comebacks are beloved fighters with a strong (or rabid, or both) fanbase who haven't been around for years (I guess Jun Kazama could be an example of this).

I wonder what the new girl meant when she said "promise me you won't tell anyone". Any guesses?
In all honesty, the only interesting personalities in DOA are:
Ayane, Rig and Helena. Zack used to be on that list, but now.... God.
From a story stand-point. Everybody is a joke, really.
Plus, the new girl can't get any more interesting or boring as she will be, as she will not get a story chapter, so we get given only a paragraph about her life.

She probably means don't tell people that she won. Chances are what we saw was her win quote. I Guess she's trying to maintain a certain image. Though, entering a televised fighting tournament to then say something like that is kinda stupid. Unless there's more to that win quote... who knows.

ehm...out of your list, I'd only say Helena is interesting. Rig was kinda interesting until the end of story mode, then he went down the drain faster than taco bell. Ayane...does she even HAVE a personality? or story, after3? agree on Zack.
in doa5.....yeah almost nobody is interesting. Since Mila, Tina, Bass and Jann Lee were really the only people involved in the actual Dead or Alive Tournament (Others participated, but story never really showed their involvement there), i'll say that those 4 were the most interesting characters in doa5. And i dont even like Jann. or Tina.

I'm not sure if we should argue which characters are interesting and with strong personalites, the opinion is going to differ from person to person :| I swear I find uninteresting characters that are loved here, or find interesting hated ones or ones that are considered bland.
AFAIK every character still has a personality, even if little or not impressive.
Ayane still has a personality that gets noticed the moment you see her in action; whether you like her or not, it's undeniable. Sadly, she might not be the grand royal asshole she was once, which is understandable since she might've matured a bit (or maybe the winquotes are just not as interesting, in DOA5), but you can see she is still an asshole, introvert, and trusts/likes only the ninjas she likes. Also, she is tsundere towards outsiders she might like, but won't admit it.
I have a feeling she said that just for this trailer, kind of like Bayonetta said "Who said you could touch?" in the Bayo 2 trailer, but actually didn't say that in the game IIRC. She probably says that because "OOh, don't tell anyone I'm at the end of this trailer, lol, love <3".
That said, my hype is near zero

That's how I interpreted it as well. Although it definitely reminds me of one of Lili's win quotes, "Please don't tell my father". So I guess it could go both ways. XD

But in the previous trailers for the Doa5 games the seyuu of the characters have never mentioned lines not included in the actual game. I think that at the most her sentence could be not associated with the "quiet" pose that we saw and maybe to another one or to a taunt (but actually work too much well with that hand gesture), but in no way that it will not be present in the final game.

Well all except for MR. She says "My name is Marie Rose" and "Bigger isn't always better you know" in her console release trailer. But you're right. The pose is most likely in the game.

You're right David, my bad. I forgot the first line while I reminded just now the second one: very likely they changed the line in her victory pose ("Don't look down on me just because I'm little") or her taunt ("You are so big").
Out of the new characters introduced in DOA5UA, Marie Rose and Nyotengu have the most entertaining personality. Marie Rose is aware of her cuteness and doesn't hide it. Nyotengu is just arrogant and brash, but I like it. This new girl in DOA5LR has to bring it, especially since TN is hyping her up with a release date.
