Set up a thread in the matchmaking/tournament board. That's what the GA guys are doing it seems.
1) You act like it hasn't been considered before, in which case I can assure you it has.
2) The European players can try to support their own by sending their best over and seeing who else can come with.
3) There isn't anything saying FSD can't help out anyone outside the States.
4) Some people don't like the idea of asking for help to travel to a game tournament. Some people consider it begging. Not saying that is the case for anyone, just saying that it is a different way of looking at it and I personally respect those people's wishes who do not want to ask for help.
When I said, “Why should only Americans get the support?” I didn’t mean anything bad. I live outside the country and when I heard the TFC news, my first thought was... I would love to go to this year’s TFC. My second thought was... How sick would it be if Australia was included in the Road to TFC. Or other countries for that matter.
If you’re scared it's going to fail, I've got 500 that says otherwise. And if a guy or two decides to not buy any pizza, snacks and soft drinks for a week and donates the proceeds and we only get 600, enough to cover for a nice dinner for 10. Then that's good enough, but why aim that low. Fuck man, there is nothing wrong with giving to the community.
I'm addressing you because you're Mr FSD, you don’t have to give money for the it, as you already do enough. For you to power to address your community which is worth much more than a few bux, and if so far your word is "no let’s not help the community", despite the recent front page posts... It would be like the Pope making a speech that asks people to not help their neighbour.
It's not asking people for help to travel; it’s saying thank you those who already have made the effort of making their own way out by giving them a little something something.
We are not begging. There is no connotation of we cannot help ourselves. Frankly, that's a very twisted notion. We are coming together as a team for a cause. How the hell do you think the Jews and LGBT have so much financial and political power or get things done?
I can't force a thing and you can't force a thing. It's up to individuals to make an effort. Scenes outside of the USA could organize donation tournaments, which does a few things...
1. Gives scene some extra drive, an extra reason to compete against each other.
2. Help train up their level whether they have someone travelling or not.
3. Helps out the campaign.
The early we do this the more time people have to save to go.
@
Junglist_Ninja I would as well except there are more people more appropriate for it than me… Me being some guy in Australia.
I'm not hexing TFC, but people need to understand that there is a possibility that this may be the last opportunity for a great DOA tournament. To help our or attend would be something
