By the way, just today I was thinking about possible new characters in the Soul Calibur series and I thought, they were desperately missing some Arabian fighter. Someone with scimitars maybe. I wonder, why they almost exclusively focus on Europe and East Asia to the point, there are several clones already. Arabian or African fighters should fit in the Soul Calibur universe just as well and should hold great potential.

Yeahhh. Nice, I've just googled "scimitars". It would be nice if it has several hooks on the blade, and sometimes it would get stuck on the ennemy's stomach in a weird way.
Like, after running through the body, it would take 2-3 twist moves to take it out. That would be a bloody gimmick.

And yeah, too bad they got rid of the only Black character in SC5.

I don't get SC5 at all. What they did to the fighter roster was just unforgivable. They made the worst cuts in the history of any fighting game. Add the horrible halfa**ed story mode to that and you could get the idea, they wanted the game to fail miserably...or they finished it in like 2 months...

Yeah... cutting iconic character in order to create a new unfinished story is just so insulting for the fans...... only Viola was a good surprise for me.

Well hopefully SC6 will bring them all back.

The Soul Calibur V story mode tops it, being both stupid and obviously unfinished. And, like KwonJigglypuff said, they cut most fan favorite characters to implement that thing. >_<

DOA5's story was okay. Looked unfinished as well (Rig's storyline is sloppy, Christie/Lisa/Gen Fu don't have chapters), but it had good moments (Eliot/Brad, Helena's floating presence, the cliffhanger).

For me a story mode is part of the gameplay too. The story might even be the most ridiculous (as it already is with most fighting games), but I want to be entertained, both just having fun fighting and learning more about the characters and the universe they live in.

Without any sort of story or background information we could just fight with blank mannequins. We don't need any characters...
