Let's be honest here. It's like Hajin said. With the full comparison to how we try to strive to watch this game on stream in comparison to the content provided to the game and the lack of players. It's extremely difficult overall, not to mention that it requires a whole community as a whole to work together for this type of stuff.
That's true. It's still frustrating though, but that's the reality of things (but with how fickle the most of the community is to support the game offline, can't say I'm surprised). Good thing I don't really give a shit about EVO otherwise. We still got SJ & TFC.
Still, people want to get this game at EVO, But now the game has started to become much more complicated in terms of communicating as a whole with the community. You think EVO can pass up a game when they see a "Underwear" selection option? Like be for real here. This game will get disrespected and shitted on everytime.
Now the backside of the issue is that you are going to see the other side of the community which is "who cares about that EVO stuff, I just want to see my gravure videos." really now? you can save a shit ton of money watching that on youtube. Be for real here, it has 60fps and all that.
That's another frustrating element, that isn't completely community related. TN wants the game to be taken more seriously as a "legit fighter" but then they add shit like the jiggle physics, underwear options and other perverted shit like the You Lose screens. Yeah, TK influences them, but it's incredibly frustrating to the fans that actually try to rep the game like how it should.
Lol, Indeed. I hate to be blunt, and no disrespect to the casual fans, but at this point, TN really needs to cater to the competitive fans. I mean even more than they did in the last couple of years or so. DOA5 Alpha looked incredibly promising when there was no fucking focus on titty nonsense.
True, but now that I think about the division in the community also partially comes from DOA5 having an identity crisis and not knowing whether it wants to be a "casual" game or a "competitive" game.
Well, we can put it this way. If it was a casual game..there would be no logic behind the system of mechanics for combat. If it was far too competitive..you may have individuals who are just not into that heavy stuff. The fun would be different than the fun they want the game to be.
That's probably why Tekken, VF and a bunch of 2D fighters would turn off the not-as-competitive gamers since they put a lot more emphasis on their combat mechanics. In terms of gameplay, DOA5 is indeed competitive, but some of the fan service inclusion such as the 6-axis boob jiggle dilutes that competitive focus.
I want to drop a post so that people don't get confused on how I see. You even have individuals who call you sexist (Jyakotu) for one calling me and Brute sexist because of a point being given. For Pete's sake, I have a girlfriend. I'm starting to believe people are putting far too much thought on a visionary perspective trying to be imaginative rather than think.
Now the thing with games like Tekken, is that they have a community as a whole to work together and tolerate the community side of things, there are some fan service there..but not by a notion where it takes over the entire game. You don't want an ugly game either, but you don't want the game to be too pretty where it's all sweets and giggles.
Well, feel free to start a convo, because I do tend to enjoy your perspective on things. I'm not really mad that DOA5LR isn't at EVO, but just the state of DOA series, its community, and its general reception in the FGC. I feel like I have to jump through unnecessary hoops to make DOA look legit compared to the other games in my scene.
Sure it's cool, I would also like to speak with Mr.Wah about this actually. It's just overall difficult to communicate considering that the offset between the catering and the competitive balance is much higher in this than other fighting games. Now before people assume too much. I am *not* against costumes or the women looking beautiful, because like I said, you don't want an ugly game either.
