Take me as an example, sometimes I feel charitable, other times I feel trolly (especially after coming home from work.)

Doesn't hurt to ask, though. Who do you main?
xWildx

I play pretty much all of the girls outside of a few. Like too many of them to pick a single main. And case-in-point, was just kicked from a lobby after saying GGs because apparently I was running after losing and deciding to then be done since it was 5:40 in the morning. -_-

Characters have a huge amount of depth to them. Having a main lets you dig deeper into a character than you otherwise would. Take it as your "guide" character that helps learn the system and tighten your fundamentals. After an ample amount of time spent, you can then move on to others.

My "main" would probably be Kasumi, since I've played her the most since DOA1.

Are you really basing things off of online play?
Ichiron47

I feel the same way with xWildx. Sometimes I feel there are "pros" who has terrible communication skills, and don't bother to help others, but to attempt to insult and put them down, whether they win or lose.

Got a question though. Are you saying that these players act differently from online play and offline play? That's very bipolar.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
@Ichiron47 care to name some of these "pro" players you speak of?
xWildx
xWildx
I was speaking about how I can't tell if someone's actually good, or if someone is just abusing the online aspect of the game. And since DOA isn't exactly well received with the majority of the FGC I have no offline scene.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
So you're basing things off the online play (which is really bad because the lag actually changes the gameplay a lot).
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
Let's put it this way, I am well aware of how frame data works in this game, my reactions are really solid (getting even better). I can recognize string delay and free cancels really well at this point.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
If you're Mila and you're using 6P on block (-12) and free cancel it, I can definitely react to this with a strike or throw (on read). If you do 6P free cancel then 6P again and it counter hits my reactive jab or fast mid, that's definitely lag.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
But I've played well over 300 different people in this game since 5U came out and am at a point where I can recognize someone just hitting buttons in combo sequence, and someone really knowing how to mix up or actually has a neutral game.

xWildx
It's much more than just the fact that online play alters the game. Every fighting game out there has to deal with that. However, you factor in the sheer amount of people with poor attitudes online as well as the fact that DOA's gameplay itself is a bit more on the random side than other games and it is what it is.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
Most online are the kind of player that are just hitting buttons in sequence until something hits, rather than actually condition anyone into anything that isn't an online low because you can't crouch on reaction online.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
There are few I've played where I ever felt I am legitimately conditioned to do something differently.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
Again, you're basing things purely from online play. DOA is random "online" because lag influences you to guess with holds so often when you don't actually have to.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
DOA isn't random, as it has many 50/50 situations just as much as any other fighter does. Most playing just don't know how to read an opponent or adapt to anything.
iHajinShinobi
iHajinShinobi
Using a jab before a Critical Burst is an online heavy strategy, for example. Critical Burst strikes are very seeable in that manner and you do not have to guess that. If you see it, you can hold it. You're forced to guess it online because you can't do anything on reaction online.
xWildx
xWildx
No, there is absolutely a random element to DOA that isn't present in a lot of other fighters and it's why you don't see a lot of competitive players take it seriously, and that's fine. KI has it as well due to the breaker system, but KI also has legacy behind it.
