Yeah, fighting games aren't known for being easy for new players which might be why they aren't as popular in the mainstream.
It's sad that DOA gets almost like shunned in the media
I mean, Core fighters is the best F2P fighter and no one in the media talks about it and it's a shame
Thing is that DoA still has a certain stigma when compared to other fighting game franchises. Even though the current people at the helm are trying to change the old image, it still sticks for those on the outside.
Mimicking Crapcoms formula don't help matters. Next to impossible to decide if it should be put in VGAs when you have to choose DoA5, DoA5U, or wait for DOA5U AE. Same reason why the VGAs don't really bother with SF.
Even before that DoA had that stigma. DoA is known for it's female character, do other fighters also have "sex bomb" characters, yes, but not to the degree that this game series does. This series isn't exactly known for balance either, Ninjas will typically win fights vs other characters. Look at the average DoA tourney, who's used primarily?
I dare U to find a Bass or user of grappler characters in one. Hell, the last time I saw a Christy user make it to the finals in one was in DoA4. In a VF tourney every character is used, in an SF one I do actually see people use other characters besides Ryu & Ken.
On my end DoA5 went to DoA5U & will now probably go to DoA5U AE.
