@Doug: Yes, with 1.03 Ryu got a new advanced mid kick hold. While it's true some characters have none, here's a couple things to keep in mind:
1) Ryu is technically a grappler, and should have lots of throw/hold options at his disposal
2) Ayane, Kasumi and Hayate all have expert mid-kick holds, leaving Ryu a weird ninja oddball
3) The new hold does barely any more damage than the old one
4) He had it in early builds of the game and I've heard rumors the AI could still use it. Why it was cut is baffling
