CONTAINS SPOILERS* Bass is a professional wrestling and the current undefeated, undisputed champion of the world. In the middle of his career he married and had a daughter, Tina Armstrong. Unfortunately Bass' wife pass when Tina was young and was raising her all by himself and trains her in wrestling. Tina makes Bass proud and becomes an amazing wrestler but soon becomes bored of the sport. Bass convinces her to enter the 1st DOA tournament as a means to renew her interest in wrestling. However Tina decides to use it as a means to promote herself for a new career. Bass realizes her new intentions and enters the first tournament to prevents Tina from winning and bring her back to wrestling. Tina tries again in the 2nd tournament and Bass returns again to stop her but this time daddy's little girl tops him. Tina becomes a runway model and Bass watches her first walk with displeasure, and ends up smashing his tv. However Tina's ambitions didn't stop there as she now wanted to pursue being a movie star and uses the 3rd DOA tournament as a platform for just that. Bass once again enters and tries to reasons with Tina about her over ambitious nature and convince her to return to wrestling. Once again Bass fails and Tina moved one to star in an action film. Tina doesn't stop there, as she soon announces that she will enter the 4th tournament to become a rock star. Bass, by this time is furious with his daughter's ambitions and once again follows her into the tournament to stop her. Bass' anger is so high that he starts random fights with people during the 4th tournament. He started a fight with Brad Wong as Tina's announcement her intentions and another with Lei Fang after losing a lot of money at a casino. At the end of the tournament, Bass enters a high speed bike race and takes the lead only to lose control of his bike while watching (in shock) Tina making out another actor on a big screen next to the track.
Character Links
Bass made only a couple of friends in the first few DOA tournaments and probably a few rivals during his out rages in the 4th. His main ambitions for entering the tournaments is to stop his daughter, Tina, from pursuing her big dreams and bring her back to the wrestling ring. It doesn't go quite as planned and Tina drifts away from him while chasing after her dreams. Bass does however befriend Gen Fu who most of the time listens to him rant and rave about how out of control Tina is. While trying to catch up to Tina, Bass does meet Zack along the way. Zack has been trying to pick up Tina since the first DOA tournament and Bass has continuously sent him packing.
Gameplay
Bass is a slow powerhouse character with some of the best punishes in the game, making him efficient at block punish and general throw punishing opponents who tend to abuse Defensive Holds. In previous DOA games, Bass was a high risk, throw and poke oriented character with many unsafe attacks and damaging throws, requiring patience and good planning. DOA3 Bass for example was a character that could dictate the pace of a round after picking up an opponent from the ground, making this extremely dangerous to those who get caught in his set-ups that give his frame advantage and guaranteed pick-ups. He had access to some of the best launchers and throws in the game, could deal 100% death combos by capitalizing off an opponent's mistake and he even had a situational infinite. In DOA4 however, he was noticeably toned down and lost many tools, which resulted in him struggling with the rest of the cast and having to rely on universal tools such as Holds. In DOA5, he now has plenty of safe moves and good defensive options, allowing for more variation in his approach towards different types of opponents and his damage output is close to DOA3 Bass, using his super-high launcher to deal massive damage in enclose areas. Due to his large hurt box, he rather restricted in terms of movement, but that shouldn't deter a player from moving around as environmental positioning is very important for Bass. Overall, Bass is a mentally taxing character to use, with high risk and reward options that can change the pace of a whole round.
Moveset & Combos
To be added later.
