  • Gen Fu fought in DOA to obtain the money needed to cure his sick granddaughter, Mei Lin, who was suffering the ravages of a rare disease. Thanks to the prize money, Mei Lin is growing better and better every day. However, one last surgery, which will require a vast sum of money, is needed to cure her completely. To save the life of his granddaughter, Gen Fu fights once again.

    Movelist and frame data
Gen Fu is a very well-rounded powerhouse, having both strong attacks and throws, as well as access to parries.

Gen Fu's :236::F+P: and :1::F+P: lets him dish out so much damage that it can often be preferable to simply take his launcher and juggle damage rather than risk holding. His :214::F+P: is also very strong, dealing high amounts of damage and leaving him with high frame advantage. His :6::6::F+P::5::F+P: at the wall also lets him do a guaranteed backturned combo for high damage.

Gen Fu's parries gives him a guaranteed :8::P:, which puts you in a deep stun. Because of this, even throwing out simple pokes against him can potentially be very risky.

His :3::P+K: is probably one of the best moves in the game, having long reach, good evasion, launching on counter hit, and being + on block. His :3::P: is also very evasive and generally has to be respected since it can be followed up with :3::P::P:.

Similarly, Gen Fu's :8::8::P: / :2::2::P: is also one of the best sidestep attacks in the game, being very evasive, having high damage and giving a frame advantage guard break on block.

His air throw lets him hit with a guaranteed :6::P:, which will cause a stun on slippery surfaces, giving him a very strong vortex tool on certain stages.

When fighting Gen Fu, it is important to know that his :3::P::P: and :6::P::P::P: can be punished by a low throw.
