That statement is not entirely true and this build is not final.
I saw plenty of counters punished at GVN. Its all about the metagame and understanding the new game fully, which no one at this event has shown expertise in. How could they in so little time? DOA4 was played, but until this game can be broken down by the masses, we need to hold our tongue.
One or two perspectives is too few to go off of.

I mean that if the attacker does a mid kick and the defender does a mid punch hold, the defender takes the same amount of damage even if they did nothing. And they would be in the same critical stun as well. There's no punishment for doing the wrong hold. It would be nice if you got a sit down stun if you hit someone that did the wrong hold. I doubt that will change though. I'll be happy if they increase the recovery frames of the hold to prevent low hold spamming and more time for punishment.

I thought this counted as counter damage and gave a percentage increase of damage?

That's what I used to think but you get the same damage..
I agree it should count as counter damage, if not HC.

That said, I should probably preface all my technical posts with "Forgive me, I speak in ignorance."

@Grap3, I agree that it would look much nicer if Lisa's animation returned fully to neutral before the hold animation took over or if at least the animations were better blended.
<super run-on warning>
Is it possible the first counter was a delayed, buffered counter, forced out at the first frame possible <in order to make sure the attacker has time to react and can punish> and
this jarring animation is supposed to be the visual cue to make sure the offensive player punishes: right. then.
H20 not being familiar with the build, or the jarring animation, had to process for a moment,
then attacks into a just frame <or at most a few (read 2-4) frames past the reset recovery> DH?
Not having played, I know I don't know.
This could be an extreme example - in context of your framecount, if H2O delayed 4 frames, how many frames until Lisa's defensive hold hit him, total <it's an i0, right>?

Grape is right in that it would be preferable for sit down stuns to be unholdable to the "natural end" of the animation, but the example chosen is poor given the attacker didn't elect the optimal follow-ups, so we don't have a visual way to zero in on that point and agree/disagree

It doesn't help that there's a lot of vitriolic language used when making these points; a less aggressive approach to others when making points would help a lot.

As it is, we'd need to see things broken down in training mode on the optimal moves in that scenario.

Holy crap. Chosen1 placed fourth with Brad? Dude! :)

Makes me really hopeful about his current solidness/viability.
To be fair Chosen1 has always played Brad, and it doesn't make Brad a good character. The character still looks like garbage, Chosen1 is just a really good player. Jann Lee obviously still looks really good and as Dr. Dogg was saying, Eliot is now obviously top tier excluding VF tier. Shade Swifteye probably would have put up a better fight against Rabies but Rabies picked Lisa and it was obvious that Shade had little to no experience fighting any Lisa, getting hit by obvious strings and her slow, overhead OH's. Rikuto and Chosen1 had some technical difficulties, in which the game glitched and a match Rikuto would have won got discounted, and then Rikuto lost 3-1. I have no clue who Mr. Kwigole is, but he played a Christie very similar to Awesmics, and was a strong competitor.

Brad does a CB in 3 hits and you call him garbage, awesome. His mix ups from his new stance are crazy. He has been buffed in movement, damage, can by pass the stun system, and has a variety of mix ups. He even has his own glitch that grants a player a redo.
Haha at that last sentence.

If he only has a few ways to get into CB and they're all predictable, his opponent will be able to simply hold or SE-and-block the CB-inflicting attack. It's not only a matter of reaching CB with three hits.

I believe I remember DrDogg saying his only CB in 3 hits is from :2::F+K::K: into :6::6::P:. Which if you ask me is pretty predictable and was even dodged several times during the stream. Granted, this isn't the final build, but just in case....
Predictable isn't bad because it puts the defender in a 50/50 situation. I saw him landing Brads CB a few times, but also getting a high damage throw off of it.
True, you can use predictability to you advantage for baiting counters :D
