I guess if everyone switched to playing mainly tag, TN would see that everyone likes the guaranteed damage, and possibly fix the singles. Which would be lovely.

But that is just speculation, I vote to keep tag on the back burner.
(I did buy DOA5 and not DOA:T5. Just saying.)

I bought DOA 5 and not DOA:S5.

Hey if one mode is better, I'm playing the mode that's better. To hell with developer intentions.

I have a picky gripe. My tag characters wouldn't make sense to me or have cool tag throws.

Tina and Alpha, like come on wtf? XD

Tengu and Alpha? That would be bomb as shit.

I use Bayman and Rig. Shit don't have to make sense, it just has to work.

I think Bayman and Rig could coexist. But it's really just a minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.
Rig being the son of the guy Bayman wants to kill?

I'm thinking no...

Out of curiosity, what's to stop us from running 1.03 for singles and 1.03a for tag?
The fact that everyone with an internet connection was forced to download the 1.03A patch.

The patch is deletable so that is no good reason.

Anyone who only have online as any source of practice has to update which most people will.

Seriously the numbers for doa are too low to try to switch to tag and im sure most people in this topic don't even travel. Like I said before switching to tag will get doa even lower results. Maybe when numbers grow you can chance offline tag tournies, but this shouldnt even be discussed. Too many reasons why this is a bad idea. Its funny how those reasons keep being ignored.

You're right in that a lot of people only have online to practice, but then you state in in the next line that they don't travel anyway, so why even go to the bother of playing a worse version of the game just because of a bunch of noshows? Surely playing an inferior version of the game only to appease the online, non-traveling fanbase happy would prove harmful to the community. So I don't see the reason for not playing 'singles 1.03' and 'tag 1.03a' concurrently, seeing as they are deemed to be the most validly competitive versions of their respective modes yet. And, it's not like it's impossible to train for anyway, the same single's game from 1.03 still exists in the new tag, albeit with tag's additional launchers and refloaters.

Even tournament players use online to practice some things. Also once you update to the newest patch you can't downgrade. Keep in mind also majors always work off the latest updates. Especially if it was something like ipl, evo...etc.

Same thing that stopped us from running DOA3.1 mainstream.

As for "Switching to tag over singles", that's not happening. You guys seem to think that one person decides these things. What decides it is the community and their voting process is by the pool size of players in each tournament for each mode. You can shout "IT SHOULD NOT BE PRIORITY" to the hilltops all night long, but if tag ends up bringing 65 players and singles ends up getting 20 players, guess which one becomes the priority towards tournament organizers.

I am not against tag if that was the case we just all know that is unlikely especially with the current state the community is in.

The new patch will replace the old one also in the marketplace. If you delete the patch and try to reinstall it, you will not download first the 1.01 then 1.02 then 1.03 and finally 1.03a (like usually works for the pc game) but directly the 1.03a.

If you wanted keep the 1.03, the only way was save it separately on an external support (anyway maybe someone could have done it), and from there resintall it on the console (disabling the internet connection anyway).

Plus, iirc 360 players didn't get 1.03 because of the bug. If it were possible at all to use 1.03 as a tourny standard, it would be unfair to the 360 players since they don't have that version to practice on.

The day DOA gets those kind of numbers to begin with....

Can't argue against this point.

I can, actually.

TTT2 is worth more money than this game is. Therefore, if I want to play an already good game that features tag, I'll play that.

DOA, however, is still shit, tag mode or not. So by forcing people to learn tag, another shit mode in an already shit game (and you would be forcing them if you made it standard in tournaments), you'd essentially be playing an inferior fighting game, for less money, while scaring away the few people that DO play (singles).

Damn that was a long sentence.
