Graphics/visuals look amazing. The story looks fucking awful.
One time I agree with Brute again... wai-!
But seriously, I really feel like people overrate the stories of MK9 and MKX and I honestly feel that MKXI is going the exact same route:
Well-Written Stories, absolute shit of everything else.
I already know what some of you want to say so let me actually give you my brain space for a second:
Some of you already know my thoughts on DOA6... and to be frank, I use those same standards for every story I ever watch or read. I don't care how well-constructed something is, you can make everything as nice and neat as possible... but if your lore is compromised to hell and back, if your can't keep your shit consistent and you can't even be assed to make sure your world actually makes sense then I don't care about how good your story is written, it's shit to me.
This is why you see me give DOA5 and 6 this "weird pass" as some of you would say, but become extremely judgmental of Mortal Kombat and most of the other fighting games and even outside of that that I play.
For as weird as DOA's story structure is and how they didn't do a good job in making it fit or clearing events up... for me, it didn't wreck it's world-building or lore, actually answered some questions to a decent extent and made consistent sense most of the time(outside of a few outliers... but DOA isn't the only one who usually messes this up nor as badly... MKX). And honestly, I'm not sure where people praise the characters of MK more than DOA's
@NewWestFan Cassie has more personality than Honoka? Dude, both are bland as fuck and Cassie is literally a 2nd rate Cage as she mentions in the Story just like Honoka is a 2nd rate Raidou. And I would go into spoiler territory at the very least Honoka didn't piss me off as much as Cassie did on multiple levels so I won't.
But basically, MKX is definitely the point where Ed Boon honestly has no clue on where to take his characters and that's just me to be frank.
Rant Over.
