Can we stop spreading misinormation? There was only the PC version available on EVO.

The game got a lighting downgrade unfortunately.

I in return need to stop making jokes about the secret, uncensored Japanese version or people will believe this as well. XD

If only it was only a lighting downgrade though

Nah It was a PC by iBuypower I believe, think I saw a tweet where they(team ninja/doatec) thanked them for providing the PCs or something
Lmao why on earth would they reduce the graphical fidelity for the EVO build? Were they having frame issues at E3? What a strange decision on their part. I'm sure they have a reason. There was also an issue with the sweat specular mapping not being applied to the females at EVO. Maybe they're encountering some graphical issues in the development?

EDIT: Correcting misinformation.

That's not true… just look at the Win Poses and you see them both sweating. They have lighter skin and thus some specular highlights are harder to notice especially given that the quality of the stream wasn't that great anyway.

Ah! Sorry about that I'm not trying to spread misinformation or anything. Thank you for correcting me on that post.

Unstable / laggy FPS perhaps. They needed a more stable build and decided to downgrade (permanately, who knows.. hopefully not).

What other downgrades were there?

You must've noticed more downgrades than just the lighting, you've been linking the pictures :D

Even the background details on the Helena comparison, It's looking more like DOA5 stage detailing than a new game If you ask me.

I think if you watch that video around the 3min mark it should be obvious enough.

Compare the Win Pose to the Intro a few secs later
I guess we will move on to “the girls aren't sweating enough” now XD

(it's kinda annoying that the plugin eats the timestamps and happily transforms any link from youtube XD)

See, this is exactly what I am saying. Guys, stop spreading misinformation, lol.

I haven't just been posting these images, these are my images. I took them, and I compared them that way. I shared them here and on Resetera and both times I mentioned clearly that the EVO footage was strongly image compressed, the old footage however was from a direct feed screenshot. That's actually a super unfair comparison and it was only to show the change in lighting because lighting, like missing shadow maps, isn't affected by image compression.
That is why the textures are of seemingly terrible quality and missing detail. It's however only the lighting that was downgraded here.

Lol, someone then took my images and added these BS missing details on the side.

Totally see what you're talking about now! Thank you for sharing. Personally at this stage in the game's development making any sort of complaints about graphical fidelity or things like jiggle physics and stuff is a bit pointless. I think it's cool that they're letting people play their builds but these are all so early people are reading too much into them. They're just trying to show people the fighting mechanics and trying to get feedback on them which, thankfully, there are many people well versed in them offering constructive criticism on where they need to go. I'm glad they showed up to EVO.

There is no misinformation here though, sure the images are from screencaptures vs actual screenshot.
But you have to be pretty blind not to see the differences in details lol (that helena picture background especially)

the game still looked good at EVO, but damn did it look good at E3 in comparison o_O

To be fair, graphic settings within the game could have been changed to a more stable setting just for evo, plus all we had was a crappy 720p stream which tends to wash things out like lighting. Its also still an early build so I'm sure they start out with pushing the textures as hard as they can then scale it back as they further optimize the game.

Are you listening to me? XD It is the poor image compression that lead to the complete loss of details. In strongly compressed images you can't make out any texture detail or detail in general anymore. We cannot deduce the quality of textures or hair or anything on this image, it is pure speculation. The lighting being downgraded is however a fact, you can clearly see that, because change of lighting or missing shadows is not affected by image compression.

Dude, It's plain obvious It's more than a lighting downgrade. Look at the photos.
It's so noticeable that you could spot the difference from a 600x400 picture vs full HD lol

And yes, this is what I'm hoping as well. But If E3 was the last time we saw a build that pretty, It is a real shame.

Look at any stream with a low bitrate. The compression can make a texture look muddied.

Yeah I'm very aware of that fact, still the changes are way too big to blame it on stream muddiness (also EVO was streamed with fairly high bitrate at 1080p/60fps.)

Unless they changed it later on in the weekend, source stream was 720p.

Don't make me show you the power of poor image compression. (Because that involves a bit of work in this heat.) It can make the gorgeous looking Horizon Zero Dawn like trash. People actually claimed that the game got a huge downgrade shortly before release. They were deducing that of a highly compressed video. What a surprise when the game was crisp and clear and beautiful on release.
Image compression also has nothing to do with resolution. A tiny little png image can have super clean and crisp image quality while a huge 4K jpeg with compression looks like shit.

The alleged missing details, like the mentioned rope detail, are very likely just due to image compression. It's speculation at this point with only that terrible quality footage to go by.

Also telling me about details is crazy. I am for years THE one in this forum and elsewhere who finds all the actual downgrades and missing details first. I think people already think I am kinda crazy and obsessed for that. I would know if there was a definite downgrade. I would tell you all before anyone else does. ;)

Nah not buying it. like I said I know how a stream can change the image. The differences are too big to blame it on stream loss of quality, on texture level alone, shadows too.

And yes, It's a good thing you showed us the images (though I did notice from the trailers that something looked different :p)

Youtube was 1080p/60
