Sorry @werewolfgoldI wonder how much has been given the green light by TN, how much has still to be decided, and what the will add to try keep as many fans as possible happy!

Well, the game is practically already finished. In a few days people will be able to play a full version on TGS. The 6 months long wait for the release is very likely because of strategical reasons. Nyotengu and some remaining DLC has to be sold first, before DOA5U is really dead.

Cool, I remember when the demo of 5 came out and it was very unfinished, but if the whole game is playable thats another story.

However, outfits and stages might still be able to be put in afterwards.

I wonder about that. As Last Round is intended to be the definitive and complete version, I can imagine, that there will be no more characters or costumes or stages (except what will be included in the game on release). Even more new DLC would completely defeat the purpose of a definitive version to wrap DOA5 up once and for all before shifting all the attention to DOA6.

I think it has more to do with all the AAA stuff coming out. Halo MCC, Sunset Overdrive, Driveclub, FOrza Horizon 2, COD: AW, etc.
A third version with a few updates wouldn't stand a chance against these games when most gamers actually wanna spend their hard earned money, especially before christmas/holidays, for something really new, and not the third version of a game they may have heard about and which doesn't even function as a complete edition with all the DLC (seriously, screw the complainers who spend like 400$ on DLC....that was YOUR own decision -.- ).

It's a pure marketing decision to release it in spring. I'm sure the game pretty much is finished for the most parts as we speak. Porting takes some time, yes, but yeah, TN should be experienced by now with porting stuff to another system (hello Ninja Gaiden ^^) LOL

My fear with that is since DOA5 has been too far with "updates, fixing," and most importantly, "bran new disks or downloads," that DOA6 just won't deliver. There's no doubt that DOA6 will be here, but since DOA5 is "too far gone" with the updates, that DOA6 probably won't cut out to be, especially since TN is answering to some fans about the new characters and stages.
This is why I'm upset about Last Round. The vanilla is about the incomplete; it takes a sequel to complete the last game. I feel that is somewhat an issue with the gaming industry nowadays. They want to fix the past before moving on, and the next takes a slight chance of delivering expectations.

I can honestly say I don't give a flying fuck about any of those games.

But actually a third version of a game with few updates couldn't have too much success with or without other big selings game, even more considering that the recent infos of TN seems to indicate that the only DLC from Ultimate that 5LR will include will be only the 3 characters but any of the outfits.

For this reason I believe that the game wil linclude in disc more content as stages, characters or new modes or feats in game (in addition to future DLC). Enough to make consider it a new game, just as happened from Ultimate compared with Vanilla (at least IMO).

Actually this is exactly the story of DoA1 and Doa2: the series knew a parenthesis with DoA3 and 4 only because ended to be an exclusive of the Xbox even far from the arcade scene. The end of the exclusivity and the collaboration with Sega actually could make predict a return to the orgins for the developments of the games (btw thing that I wasn't able to do XD).

Yes, but you/we are the minority, just like every (hardcore) fighting game fan. A COD selling millions of copies within a few months, if not weeks, pretty much proofs that everytime.

But how does that honestly affect fighting game enthusiasts? As long as you market the game, it shouldn't really matter THAT much since FGC in general is pretty niche in and of itself.

I think it's better that they update DOA5 than move onto DOA6. I'm hoping that DOA6 has a lot of changes and the little updates they have been doing with patches and DOA5U are just fine tuning the original game. A lot of fighting games do it, i.e. Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, Persona 4, BlazeBlue, Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Sequels take too long and it takes time to come up with new ideas for the next game. Think about how long we had to wait for DOA4 and DOA5. Plus, DOA5 is a good game but I feel like it hasn't excelled as much as it could have in the FGC. Making an update for it will boosts it's popularity again.

I wish we could get this for Zack's character select, instead of the one we have now.

and as for tag stages, can we get the Forbidden Square as a stage?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the impression I took away was that it was still a work in progress and that ppl won't be playing the final version. Sort of like how SSB was at E3.

And like I've said before, we will buy the next version b/c we're fans but TN will have to give other people more of an incentive to buy another game other than just for 2 stages and particle effects (especially for last gen).

But the complete game is already there! It's just DOA5U including all characters, stages, patches and apparently some of the costume DLC. You don't need 6 months for a hand full new hairstyles and prettier particle effects. (And these are already finished, as we can see in the trailer and screens.)

As one of Team Ninja's staff members clarified on Facebook. They initially just wanted to bring DOA5U to the current consoles...then they also considered, releasing it digitally for the old consoles, to not shut out old fans of the game. So they are lucky enough, no need for more of an incentive. It won't be even physically purchasable for the old consoles, just digitally...saves Tecmo Koei lots of money in distribution. The PS4/XBone version is the most important one. It's one of the first 3D fighters and the first DOA on the current consoles, it will look really good and it's got all of the DOA5FU content and more. That's already pretty promising.

In my opinion, TN should really release 10 classic stages, I think they have plenty of time to create 10.
New intros for every character.
New winposes.

I'd like that DOA4 Lobby style with those characters. the chats were more fun!
We need Ray House back with remixed themes. I kinda miss this stage and those soundtracks since they were in 2U & 4.

I think they're going to add Marie's story in 5LR. since she now has special tag intros with helena.

Only time will tell but I still disagree (maybe I'm just in denial XD). TN always has a few tricks up their sleeve and they'll be collaborating with Senran Kagura so who knows.

Yes, the Senran Kagura thing... I personally hope, it's just costumes, not characters. I find the SK cast overly sexualized and stereotypical. I dislike the character design very, very much... :/ For me, a character like that in DOA would be a new all time low of the series.

Im not that familiar with most new japanese animus/japan-only-titles, so I looked up Senran Kagura and it looks like a soft core porn ninja game. So have TN actually colabed with this franchise or is there a weird joke I just missed here?

You don't know what all they are adding. No one does. It's not just a straight port (and even that requires some decent QA to make sure it doesn't blow up or something).
