I'm tired of people constantly saying that everybody will drop Phase 4. There's a reason why I'm hyped about playing her, I'm not like many people who just looked at some combos and pics and are like "OMG she's so awesome!". If you don't feel you will be good with her playstyle then I see no reason to be excited, just another character you won't play. But if you're exticed about playing her I see no reason to drop her. I was hella hyped when I saw Rachel for the first time at E3 and she's still my main. I couldn't wait for Marie and after 3 months she's still my sub. If you drop character after a week then probably you didn't get too deep into him/her actual gameplay. It's like with Nyo, I love the design, but before I'll see a few hours of solid gameplay I won't declare If she will join my mains' team.

On TvTropes, they do list that as one of the issues of this game's reasons for why people barely give it a chance and considering that we've long since past the fanservice issue, the "easiness" of counters in an age where UMvC3 pretty much hands people wins for hitting a person...

Because most are just hyped at a new character regardless of who they are or his they play her. Then they try em don't like em, drop em.

what you say is true, but then again you have to consider all the people who buy these characters for new characters sake or to do the stuff in the combo videos because it looks awesome and will inevitably drop them for various reasons.

I was excited for Momiji in DOA5U, dropped her for a while to pick up another character while the hype train died down then picked her back up. Just the way I am, but I'm excited to play Phase 4 so I'll just deal with the surge in the first month.
