While I usually go with the "it's optional" attitude, I have to agree 100% with what @UncleKitchener is saying. The sexualization is getting a bit out of hand and even if you buy a single costume because you like it (I did it with Tina's racing suit and Helena's greek goddess one), you're forced to see the rest of the pack when used against you online. It's ridiculous and it's getting to the point where the game is making no sense and what's happening on the screen is simply laughable.
One of my friends mains Zack and he chooses random costume. Sometimes his abomination of a Halloween suit comes out in serious-looking stages like Hotzone or Scramble and I just can't help not being able to defend a game showing a man wearing a skeleton suit jumping around there. The Lisa thing happened this weekend to me as well. I was showing the game to some potential players and one of them choose Lisa with random costume and eventually the gemstone abomination came out and everyone started laughting and saying the game is for sick perverts. How the fuck am I supposed to defend a game like this¿ TN is making it very hard.
The other thing is that, OK, they're optional but in this day and age, Lisa and Helena's gemstone swimsuits gather more media coverage than the 1.04 changelog and the ironic thing is that the players who will play using those costumes will only masturbate for a few weeks and then play something else. We hardcore players are the ones who try to keep the game alive in the very-long run.
Hell, I can't even choose my three mains (blonde chicks) with random costume because Tina is full of horrible bikinis, Helena has that terrible gemstone thing and Rachel has a porno nurse suit. I DON'T want that.

I go with Tinas racing suit, her C3, C2 and sometimes the throwback.

Her face is fine, but overall, I find her to be a little too muscular/athletic. I prefer a more traditional, feminine physique.
Her triceps and shoulders look... big, in her fighting stance.

Well, she has a kind of screwed up story in VF. Kidnapped and brainwashed by an evil company to try to kill her brother. Interesting fact, I just checked the VF wikia to brush up on her history and she's 40. Born July 4th, 1973.

I still think Sarah is unique for a couple of reasons:
• Different body build
• Doesn't act cutesy/gimmicky (Very fierce and straightforward personality)
• Doesn't have a high pitched scream when KO'ed
• Has the least vulnerable lose pose among the females (and the only woman who is standing up and not panting)
They went with her VF1 age (21) and occupation (college student) for 5/5U though.
